It’s been a month of my writing every week and to be honest, I did not expect to a) be consistent with this whole The weekly mixtape thing and b) to enjoy it the way that I do. So, to the reads of this week.
Blacksad. Volumes 2-4, Juan Díaz Canales & Juanjo Guarnido.
My continuing on reading Blacksad, a noir graphic novel by Juan Díaz Canales & Juanjo Guarnido about a back cat, a private detective. The thing with this one is, as the series continues, I like it better and better. All the political intricacies waived in together with some personal dilemmas, and seasoned with some wit – thanks, I’ll take as much as I can. There are still two volumes left, so I’m happy I’ll be writing about it one more time (hopefully, next week).
A bear called Paddington, Michael Bond
One of my reading goals for this year was to read more children's literature, and I’d say I do just fine. Paddington is Paddington, who am I to tell you he’s not charming? The interesting thing about this book though (the first in the series at least), is that you can tell in what time period it’s been written, which is not necessarily a bad thing.
Not the longest issue of The weekly mixtape for sure, but hey, who cares. Will hope I read and watch and see and listen to and whatever else you have something next week, so we will gather again to talk about good and bad things.
